Cinderella (French: Cendrillon, German: Aschenputtel), is a popular fairy tale embodying a classic folk tale myth-element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. Thousands of variants are known throughout the world. The title character is a young woman living in unfortunate circumstances which suddenly change to remarkable fortune. The word "cinderella" has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are unrecognised, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect. The still-popular story of Cinderella continues to influence popular culture internationally, lending plot elements, allusions, and tropes to a wide variety of media.
ซินเดอเรลล่า (อังกฤษ: Cinderella; ฝรั่งเศส: Cendrillon) เป็นเทพนิยายปรัมปราที่ได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างสูงทั่วทั้งโลก มีการดัดแปลงเป็นรูปแบบต่างๆ มากมายกว่าพันครั้ง เนื้อเรื่องเกี่ยวกับเด็กสาวกำพร้าผู้หนึ่งที่อยู่ในอุปถัมภ์ของแม่เลี้ยงกับพี่สาวบุญธรรมสองคน แต่ถูกทารุณและใช้งานเยี่ยงทาส ต่อภายหลังจึงได้พบรักกับเจ้าเมืองหรือเจ้าชายผู้สูงศักดิ์ ตำนานซินเดอเรลล่ามีปรากฏในเทพนิยายหรือนิทานพื้นบ้านประเทศต่างๆ ทั่วทั้งโลกโดยมีชื่อของตัวเอกแตกต่างกันออกไป ทว่าฉบับที่มีชื่อเสียงที่สุดเป็นของนักเขียนชาวฝรั่งเศสชื่อ ชาร์ลส แปร์โรลต์ (Charles Perrault) ในปี ค.ศ. 1697 ซึ่งอิงมาจากวรรณกรรมของ จิอัมบัตติสตา เบซิล เรื่อง La Gatta Cenerentola ในปี ค.ศ. 1634 ในเรื่องนี้ตัวเอกมีชื่อว่า เอลลา (Ella) แต่แม่เลี้ยงกับพี่สาวใจร้ายของเธอพากันเรียกเธอว่า ซินเดอเรลล่า (Cinderella) อันหมายถึง "เอลลาผู้มอมแมม" ซึ่งกลายเป็นชื่อเรียกเทพนิยายในโครงเรื่องนี้โดยทั่วไป
